BSB Storms Back Against St. John's in Series Opener, 4-3

QUEENS, N.Y. - The UConn baseball team (21-14, 5-2 BIG EAST) rallied against the St. John's bullpen to capture a series opening win against the Johnnies on Friday evening at Jack Kaiser Stadium.
The Huskies entered the eighth inning trailing 3-2 but a two-out, two-run double from Kyler Fedko gave UConn its first lead of the night.
Andrew Marrero and Caleb Wurster each recorded scoreless innings out of the bullpen and combined to strike out five over the final two innings. Wurster recorded his fifth save of the year by striking out the side in the ninth.
Austin Peterson earned his conference-leading sixth win of the year with a quality start for the Huskies. The right-hander logged seven innings, allowed three runs , did not walk a batter and struck out eight.
The Huskies trailed 2-0 heading to the fifth but the middle of the order got UConn on the board with a two-out rally. Reggie Crawford singled, stole his first bag of the year and scored on an RBI single from Pat Winkel.
The UConn catcher added an RBI in the seventh with an RBI groundout that made it a 3-2 deficit for the Huskies.
Kyler Fedko posted his team-leading 16th multi-hit game with a three-hit evening while Ferrer, Crawford, Stock and Chris Winkel all notched multi-hit games.
UConn returns to the field on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
