BSB Wins Series after Doubleheader Split

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (9-12) split its doubleheader on Saturday against Rhode Island to capture its second-straight series win.
Game 1
UConn earned a walk-off win in 13 innings in game one on the strength of a Pat Winkel solo home run, his fifth long ball of the season.

The Huskies bullpen trio of Andrew Marrero, Caleb Wurster and Justin Willis combined to throw 5.1 scoreless innings, allowed just one hit and struck out seven to keep the game tied from the sixth until the 13th inning.
Justin Willis earned his first win in a UConn jersey with his 2.0 innings of work.
Starting pitcher Austin Peterson was solid for the Huskies, pitching 5.2 innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five.
Winkel led the way at the plate with three hits and a pair of RBIs including the walk-off bomb.
Game 2
In game two of the twinbill, the Huskies led 4-3 entering the eighth inning but were unable to hold on to the lead as the Rams plated three in the frame.
Erik Stock drove in a pair of runs and scored two more to contribute to all four runs in game two.
The Huskies tried to piece together the bullpen after having a depleted bullpen heading into the series finale.
Brendan O'Donnell came on and threw 1.1 innings and with the Huskies losing the designated hitter due to an injured Ciaran Devenney, O'Donnell collected his first career hit with an infield single.
2 YR FR Garrett Coe made his UConn debut by getting a key out in the sixth inning.
Reggie Crawford threw a scoreless ninth inning that featured a fastball right around 100 miles per hour.
The loss snaps a season-long four game win streak for the Huskies.
Up next, Boston College comes to town on Tuesday, March 30 at 3 p.m.
